The art of brass paintings
The paintings are characterized by vibrant colours, fine lines and intricate detailing on brass. The clarity and accuracy of lines and flawless demarcation of compositional elements highlight exceptional skill and precision.
A unique innovation, the paintings on brass involve transferring and then etching contemporary and traditional subjects on brass sheets. A multi stage process, it requires remarkable dexterity to ensure that the colours are separated during application and remain distinct. The paints that are used are special stoving enamels which are mixed to achieve desired colours. The etching and colouring is manually done. On completion of colouring, the plates are transferred to industrial ovens at temperatures between 180-250 degrees centigrade to ensure permanent fixing of colours.
Once the firing is completed, the painting is scrubbed, lacquered and buffed for shine and lustre. The process takes about 30 stages to complete. The painting can be treated with gold, silver and copper plating to achieve various finishes. About the Artist
The company is the brainchild of Dinesh Magar, an artist, designer and a connoisseur of fine art. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fine arts from Karnataka Chitrakala Parishat. A merit student at university, he has won excellence awards thrice consecutively and has been commended for his work by eminent personalities like Dr Svetoslav Roerich, Bunty and Saddiqa Peerbhoy, felicitated by Veerappa Moily, Bangarappa, Nagaratnamma and S M Krishna. He is presently a permanent member at Karnataka Chitrakala Parishat.
